Two and a half hour sessions including grooming and ridden activities for groups of three to five children. School holiday programs are designed especially for younger beginner riders and include a variety of fun activities, such as basketball, ten-pin bowling, and mini-golf, all played from horse-back!
Parent participation is required.
Cost: 2 and a 1/2 hours $85 per rider
The Young Rider Program for 3 to 8 year olds incorporates a play based learning concept on horseback.
Not only do my young riders learn the basic skills to ride their ponies safely and correctly, but they also enjoy a variety of games and activities that promote balance, hand/eye coordination, fine motor skills, reasoning skills as well as number, colour, shape and alphabet recognition. All the activities are carried out on horseback. Parent participation is an integral part of these classes. Whilst some parental horse experience is an advantage it is not a requirement for your child to join these sessions as I teach the parents too.
Our indoor arena is specially set up with alphabet pictures to assist the riders with letter recognition and directions. We also utilize a variety of adaptive equipment such as: loop reins (easy for small hands to hold), neck straps (for balance and security), red and yellow scrunchies (for right and left steering) and size appropriate saddles with toe cages, to make the first experience of riding easier and safe for the students.
The riders also have the opportunity to ride out on our trails and paddocks throughout the property, (weather permitting) and learning how to negotiate riding up and down hills.
